Meet Katelyn!

I graduated from Calvin College with a degree in Special Education and a minor in Elementary Education.  I then went on to Grand Valley State University, gaining an endorsement in Childcare Administration.  I started my teaching career by founding and teaching a multi age preschool program.  God then led me to my next adventure of teaching young 5’s and developing the school’s childcare program.  At that time, I began to use the outdoors as a learning tool.  Partnering with the school and the local nature center, we developed a Nature Preschool Curriculum that has been sold to several local Christian schools.  It has been a joy to see God’s children learning and exploring in His world.

I am confident my journey has prepared me for the Little Fliers Childcare and Development Center.  I have a passion for teaching children about God’s world and how much He loves them. Together with my sister, Jessica, and our Little Fliers team, our prayer is that God will be glorified through Little Fliers Childcare.

I enjoy spending time outdoors and on the water along with my husband, Ryan, our daughter Wilhelmina, and our son Roman.

Creating Little Fliers Childcare and Development Center is a dream come true and a passion turned into a reality.

Growing up in a loving Christian family and having attended Christian schools all my life, I have always appreciated how Christian communities come together to encourage, grow, and support each other. As the directors of Little Fliers, my sister and I are excited to further bring the light of Christ to Byron Center through our center. 

I have seen God’s creative handiwork throughout my life as He opened many unique job opportunities for me to learn and grow from. Throughout these opportunities, my passion and love of caring for children not only remained but grew stronger, and because of this, I attended Grand Rapids Community College and earned my Associates Degree in Child Development.

In my free time, I enjoy spending time outdoors with family and friends and cooking!
